Summits, Conferences, and Symposiums

mocs29.jpg

Summits, conferences and symposiums provide spaces for youth to build knowledge, leadership skills, and networks that strengthen their role as environmental changemakers. By bringing together students, researchers, policymakers, and activists, these events have fostered collaboration and amplified youth voices in climate action and sustainability. Participants have also gained practical experience in advocacy, policy dialogue, and community organizing, preparing them to lead initiatives in schools, neighborhoods, and future careers.

Seeds For Change - An Intersectional Sustainability Summit

Hosted in March 2025 and supported by the Racialized Youth Innovation (RAYI) Microgrant, Seeds for Change: An Intersectional Sustainability Summit explored the intersection of sustainability, social justice, and equity. Youth leaders, nonprofit professionals, and educators participated in panels, workshops, and networking sessions, showcasing projects and emphasizing that inclusive and intersectional approaches are essential for sustainable solutions.

Testimonials: Here Is What Our Community Has To Say...

“This symposium really opened my eyes to the physiological response our body has to stress and eco-anxiety. I learned so much about how to better manage my eco-anxiety and maintain an internal locus of control. It was really fascinating to hear about the sympathetic nervous system and so many helpful nervous system regulation practices. I really loved meeting so many people who share similar feelings about the climate change crisis and I felt instantly accepted and understood by our amazing community. Scrapbooking helped me feel a lot more grounded and I enjoyed the community-building aspect of it. This symposium was a really great experience and I would definitely recommend going.” - Christine Ling Li (September 2025; Minds on Climate Symposium Attendee)

“I found this event inspiring and eye-opening. It not only helped me better understand eco-anxiety, but also taught me how to channel it into positive action. I left the workshop feeling empowered, hopeful, and connected to a community that cares deeply about the future of our planet.” - Jenny Chu (September 2025; Minds on Climate Symposium Attendee)

“This summit provided me with a much needed glimpse into the topic of intersectionality. I was enlightened by the lectures provided by the professionals and was able to clearly understand the main points despite not having any previous knowledge. I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity and will gladly attend or recommend future summits.” - Nicole Nathari Fernando (March 2025; Seeds for Change: An Intersectional Sustainability Summit Attendee)
