Letter From Our Co-Founders

Dear community members,

We cannot begin to express how incredible it is to say it has been 5 years since HNP Canada was founded. What an incredible 5 years of connecting, learning and making an impact in our community and worldwide! We are so grateful for all our volunteers, collaborators, sponsors, funders, board members and executive team members - we would not be here without you!

Since our founding in October of 2020, we have been striving to increase environmental literacy and inspire meaningful and equitable action. At HNP Canada, we strongly believe that youth are the leaders of today and that they have the power to drive change. As such, it has been inspiring to witness the dedication and commitment of over 10,000 youth to the climate movement who have engaged with the HNP Canada community, from attending local community cleanups and tree plantings to advocating for Indigenous-led teachings and land-based learning from a decolonial and intersectional lens.

Over these past five years, we have been able to grow from a team of three to over fifty executive team members who have all come together with a shared goal: to combat the climate crisis. From experiential learning through  community cleanups, invasive plant species removal events, and tree plantings to advocating for the environment through workshops, competitions, summits, and conferences, we have accomplished a lot. However, there is long road ahead of us and we cannot do it alone.

As such, we hope to encourage our community to support and uplift youth, marginalized, and Indigenous voices within the climate sector, for the importance of listening to, incorporating, and implementing diverse perspectives that should not be overlooked or understated. By centering these voices, we can ensure that climate solutions are not only equitable but also deeply informed by lived experiences and traditional knowledge. Together, we can build a more just, resilient, and inclusive path forward for our shared future.

We want to thank everyone for your tremendous support to our organization over the past five years. Specifically, we would like to thank our incredible executive team members and volunteers for their astounding work towards our cause. We are extremely excited for what lies ahead and are looking forward to seeing HNP Canada grow even bigger, reach a greater audience and continue to achieve our goals of literacy, action, and advocacy.

With gratitude,
