Community Cleanups

Over the past five years, HNP Canada has hosted multiple community cleanups across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), bringing together youth, families, and community members to tackle plastic pollution and restore public spaces. These events have transformed local parks, trails, and riversides into cleaner, safer, and healthier ecosystems. As of 2025, HNP Canada has amassed approximately 900 volunteers who have supported specifically with the community cleanups hosted by the organization. In the future, HNP Canada strives to expand community cleanups beyond the GTA, in order to be able to promote environmental literacy to an even broader community.

To date, HNP Canada has hosted community cleanups at the following locations: High Park, Samuel Connor Pond, Centennial Park, Riverdale Park East, Rouge Park, Christie Pits Park, Brickyard Park and Teramoto Park.  Beyond the physical impact of removing waste, cleanups build awareness of human impacts on nature and foster a strong sense of collective responsibility. Each cleanup is a visible reminder that small actions, when multiplied by hundreds of hands, can create lasting change.

Testimonials: Here Is What Our Community Has To Say...

“Participating in this cleanup deepened my awareness of how quickly waste accumulates in public spaces. Since then, I’ve made a conscious effort to reduce single-use plastics, and I’ve also started encouraging my peers to organize small cleanups in our school area.” - Felix Dai (May 2025; Community Cleanup
Volunteer at Brickyard Park)

“Yes it made me realize how easy it is to care for the environment and helped me make more efforts for sorting my waste effectively.” - Vera Bello (May 2025; Community Cleanup Volunteer at Brickyard Park)

“I really appreciated the opportunity to contribute through the community cleaning event. It felt meaningful to help clean and give back to the neighborhood where we live and stand together. It may have been a small act, but it made a real impact. Since graduating college, I haven’t had many chances to participate in volunteer efforts, so this experience was especially fulfilling.” - Hanna Tezuka (April 2025; Community Cleanup Volunteer at Christie Pits Park)

“During the event, I learnt how much of a difference a group of people can make when they all come together with the same goal. This experience was really enjoyable and I will definitely be back for more events in the future!” - Jasmine Kaur (October 2024; Community Cleanup Volunteer at Teramoto Park)
