Community & Pollinator Gardens

width_800 (7).png

Community and pollinator gardens create lasting spaces that support both people and wildlife. By planting native plant species, these gardens provide essential food and habitat for pollinators while serving as outdoor classrooms for youth and community members to learn about sustainable gardening, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship through hands-on activities.

On May 24th, 2025, HNP Canada partnered with Oakvillegreen Conservation Association to host a pollinator garden event at Kingsford Gardens, Oakville. where participants planted native plants, removed invasive plants, and built a thriving pollinator habitat. This project was supported by the Animals, People, and the Environment (A.P.E.) fund, a $1,000 microgrant from the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada which supports community-centered conservation projects that address the interconnected challenges of animals, people, and the environment.

Testimonials: Here Is What Our Community Has To Say...

“I was scared at first but I really enjoyed the activities we did.The organizers there were really nice and funny as well as the volunteers. I also really appreciate how the organizers were considerate of everyone’s dietary preferences. Everything was well organized and nice and I would definitely think about volunteering again!” - Lemar Aiaka (May 2025; Pollinator Garden Event Volunteer at Kingsford Gardens)

“Volunteering with this program was a great experience! I learned a lot about some invasive species and the importance of removing them. The team was also friendly and made everything easy to understand. I’d do it again!” - Serene Deflorimonte (May 2025; Pollinator Garden Event Volunteer at Kingsford Gardens)

“I was impressed by the commitment of the organization. The HNP went above and beyond to provide us with creative support which made a positive attitude difference for me. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity.” - Guntas Bakshi (May 2025; Pollinator Garden Event Volunteer at Kingsford Gardens)
